Krieg DeVault is pleased to announce that the law firm has strengthened its highly respected Governmental Affairs Practice by acquiring former Indiana State Senator Randy Head. Head served as a member of the Indiana State Senate for 11 years representing District 18 before resigning in 2019 to serve as the Pulaski County Chief Deputy Prosecutor. Head joins the firm as Of Counsel advising clients regarding various legislative issues, while serving as a key component to the firm’s governmental affairs and public advocacy initiatives.

“We are very excited to welcome Randy as the newest member of the firm’s Governmental Affairs Team,” said Amy Levander, Executive Director of Governmental Affairs and Chair of the firm’s Governmental Affairs Practice. “Randy’s Statehouse experience and depth of knowledge of local, state, and federal government issues will allow him to be a great asset in advocating for our clients.”

During his tenure at the Statehouse, Head chaired several committees and served as part of the Senate majority caucus leadership. He focused on civil and criminal issues, protecting children, and improving local government. He authored several major laws that increased penalties and eliminated loopholes for child abusers, and also served as the author of a major school bus safety initiative. Over the course of his tenure, Head served as chair of the Senate Committees on Local Government, Civil Law, and Judiciary.

He joins an already strong Governmental Affairs Practice at Krieg DeVault that includes Amy M. Levander, who served as Governor Joseph Kernan and Governor Frank O’Bannon’s Deputy Legislative Director; Michael D. McDaniel, former Indiana Republican State Chairman; Jennifer L. Ping, former chairwoman of the Marion County Republican Party; Mathew W. Norris, Indiana General Assembly veteran; Deborah J. Daniels, former U.S. Attorney and U.S. Assistant Attorney General; and Grant M. Achenbach, former Director of Government Relations for the Indiana State Medical Association.

Throughout Head’s career, he has been recognized by several state, non-profit, and business organizations for his community, legal, and civic contributions including the Hulman Health Achievement Award, Children’s Coalition of Indiana Award, National Coalition of Capital Champion of Small Business Award, Public Policy Champion of Philanthropy Award, Indiana Judges Champion of Justice Award, School Counselors Association Legislator of the Year Award, United Way 211 Ambassador Award, Indiana Adoptee Network Appreciation Award, American Legion, Leroy Shelton Post Recognition Award, Fulton County Citizens’ Action Committee Award, American Foundation for the Prevention of Suicide Award, and the Four County Counseling Award for Work on Mental Health & Substance Abuse.
