Krieg DeVault is pleased to announce that the firm has elected four new members to its leadership team. Five attorneys, including newly-elected Managing Partner Deborah J. Daniels and incumbent members Michael J. Messaglia and Thomas N. Hutchinson, will comprise the firm’s Executive Committee as of January 1, 2015.

In 2014, Krieg DeVault expanded its Executive Committee to reflect the increased size and geographic reach of the firm. Joining Ms. Daniels, Mr. Messaglia and Mr. Hutchinson will be Indianapolis area office Partners Libby Yin Goodknight; and North Central Indiana office Partner Stephen A. Studer. With an emphasis on strategic growth, entrepreneurship and client satisfaction, the leadership team plans to enhance the already-strong footprint of one of Indiana’s largest locally-owned law firms.

Deborah J. Daniels– Managing Partner
Deborah Daniels is a former U.S. Attorney and U.S. Assistant Attorney General, and has lengthy experience in criminal and civil investigations and public safety. Her work has included responsibilities at the U.S. Department of Justice directly related to the nation’s response to the September 11th attack on the U.S., data and communications interoperability, and the nation's ability to detect, prevent and respond to future terrorist acts. Ms. Daniels provides counsel to the firm’s public and private sector clients in matters affecting public safety, homeland security, disaster preparedness, leveraging of federal and state resources, federal and state regulatory compliance and internal investigations. She assists the firm’s clients in interacting with agencies of local, state and federal government, including both the executive and legislative branches at all levels, and advises clients ranging from government agencies to health care providers to other private sector entities on strategic planning, compliance and public policy matters.

Libby Yin Goodknight– Partner
Libby Goodknight focuses her work in the areas of business and commercial litigation, with a significant emphasis on motion and appellate practice. Ms. Goodknight is a member of the Firm's Litigation Practice Group and serves as Chair of the Firm’s Appellate Service Group. She has assisted clients with appeals in state and federal courts across the country and in the U.S. Supreme Court. She has represented amicus curiae parties before the Indiana appellate courts and the U.S. Supreme Court as well. Ms. Goodknight has experience in a wide range of litigation matters, including administrative law cases, shareholder and contract disputes, covenants not to compete, trade secret claims, antitrust litigation, issues involving RICO, financial institutions, securities fraud, and wage and hour class and collective actions.

Thomas N. Hutchinson - Partner
Tom Hutchinson is a member of firm's Health Care and Business Practice Groups. He is the former Chair of the firm’s Health Care Practice, a position he left to serve on the firm’s Executive Committee. He regularly advises hospitals, physician groups, and senior housing facilities throughout the country on issues hospital and medical practice sales and acquisitions, reimbursement issues, OIG/DOJ investigations, physician employment contracting and integration strategies, and general regulatory compliance challenges, including Stark Act and Anti-Kickback guidance. He also regularly works with a variety of other health care ventures, including surgery centers, cancer centers, imaging centers, private equity funds and lenders, and health care entrepreneurs.

Michael J. Messaglia - Partner
Mike Messaglia's practice includes financial institutions, general corporate matters, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions and taxation. He is the former Chair of the firm's Financial Institutions Practice. He has been involved in numerous merger and acquisition transactions involving both public and private companies, and has served as issuer's counsel in public offerings of securities. He has also advised financial institutions on bank regulatory and enforcement matters. Mr. Messaglia advises clients on general matters including corporate governance and securities compliance.

Stephen A. Studer - Partner
Stephen Studer serves as the Executive Partner of the Firm’s North Central Indiana office and is a member of the firm’s Real Estate and Environmental, Business, and Health Care Practice Groups as well as several other practice groups. He has extensive experience in advising financial institutions, corporate, health care, government and real estate clients in connection with their strategic, general business and real estate needs. His prior experience includes positions as in-house senior counsel with major multi-national corporations and as partner with several prominent firms in private practice.
