Krieg DeVault assists health care providers in navigating licensure, accreditation and enrollment processes, whether the providers are establishing new locations, expanding locations or service lines, or restructuring existing operations. Complimentary to this work, we are a leader in assessing and advising on the various regulatory, compliance, and reimbursement considerations that arise as providers explore new or innovative structures. In addition, as providers are seeking ways to leverage non-physician practitioners, we analyze individual practitioner scope of practice matters and their intersection with billing requirements, for purposes of determining the permissibility of utilizing non-physician practitioners and personnel with varying licensure and certification types. Our assistance in licensure, accreditation and certification matters spans the continuum of provider types, from hospitals to ASCs to nursing and residential facilities to various ambulatory settings.

Representative Experience:

  • Assisted in the establishment of a new psychiatric hospital, including the initial licensure and accreditation of the hospital and provided ongoing assistance as the hospital expanded clinical service lines, including assessing licensure and reimbursement impacts.
  • Advised on impact of proposed changes to existing acute care hospitals, such as establishment, relocation and closure of various hospital service lines, including remote locations, outpatient departments, and distinct part units.
  • Assessed viability of using certain non-credentialed staff, including payment impact and scope of practice permissions.
