Krieg DeVault is pleased to announce that attorney Judy L. Woods has been named to the Advisory Committee on Litigation for The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).  Woods was named to her new position during the 223rd General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) that took place in St. Louis, MO earlier this month.  Woods will begin her 6-year term effective immediately.  

Woods is one of six people elected nationally to the Advisory Committee on Litigation.  The Committee advises the church and its highest ranking officer, the Stated Clerk, on matters pertaining to litigation.  The Advisory Committee on Litigation also prepares and/or joins in the amicus curiae briefs of others in litigation pending before the U.S. Supreme Court or other federal and state courts that relate to First Amendment issues and social witness and justice issues of concern to the church.  

In addition to her new role on the Advisory Committee on Litigation, Woods serves on the Committee of the Constitution, and provides advice and counsel to the denomination on matters related to the Church’s Constitution, such as its Book of Order and Book of Confessions.

About Judy L. Woods
Throughout her career, Ms. Woods has focused her practice on complex commercial and "bet the company" litigation, including antitrust, class actions, shareholder and corporate governance disputes, international and other contracts, finance disputes, fraud, RICO and other business disputes.  She has represented several financial institutions, holding companies, broker/dealers, accounting firms, private businesses and health care providers in complex litigation, involving mergers, asset transfers, transactions related to IPOs, the sale of stock, annuities, debentures or other securities.  

Ms. Woods is an active member of the legal community.  She serves on the Panel of Neutrals for the American Arbitration Association, is a member of the International Center for Dispute Resolution, and is a Senior Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America.  Additionally, she serves as a Trustee for the Indiana University School of Law John S. Grimes Trust.  Ms. Woods is a graduate of the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law and will counsel clients from the firm’s Indianapolis office.
