Essential Job Duties: 

  • Initial drafting of commercial loan and real estate transaction documents
  • Review third party closing materials such as title commitments and surveys
  • Prepare and review commercial real estate documents, loan documents, lease agreements, easements and other commercial real estate documents
  • Assemble closing binders for commercial real estate transactions
  • Obtain, prepare and record certain real estate documents in various counties and states
  • Conduct UCC lien searches and other comprehensive searches
  • Prepare and file UCC financing statements


Minimum Requirements:

  • Prior experience in commercial loan and real estate transactions
  • Highly developed organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written skills for contact with attorneys and clients
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to handle pressure and prioritize work flow while managing multiple projects
  • Ability to preserve confidentiality and exercise discretion
  • Computer skills - strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, Adobe, and Web navigation

Finance Manager

Full-Time 

Job Description

The Finance Manager oversees all aspects of the Firms' financial operations. He/she serves as a key leader of the Accounting Department's Finance Team and a business advisor to Firm management, working closely with the CAO and COO to provide high-level financial and strategic support to the firm's legal departments and practice groups. This will involve a high degree of ongoing analytical support and ad hoc reporting.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for the oversight of all Firm financial operations, including but not limited to accounts payable, payroll, general ledger functions and timely reconciliation of bank accounts.
  • Perform month-end and year-end balancing, reporting and closing of accounting periods.
  • Collaborate closely with the Client Accounting Services Manager to ensure alignment of all client and financial related processes.
  • Maintain the Firm's internal policies and controls designed to ensure integrity of financial data.
  • Provide periodic financial reports to management on an accurate and timely basis, continuously seeking to enhance the services provided.
  • Perform analyses, reporting and forecasting activities which support the Firm's strategic plan within budget.
  • Provide financial support to other Business Functions and assist them in decision making.
  • Perform ad-hoc reporting for end users, as needed.
  • Support and liaise with the firm's outside auditors, vendors, and bank contacts, as well as provide oversight of any bank software or applications used by the Firm.
  • Continuously develop improvements to accounting policies and initiatives to manage costs and maximize profitability.
  • Complete projects and tasks on various issues when needed, maintaining flexibility as business requirements evolve.

  • Education - Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance, CPA certification, and at least seven years of progressively increasing financial leadership experience, preferably in a law firm setting.

Legal Administrative Assistant

Krieg DeVault LLP is seeking an experienced Legal Administrative Assistant to work with our Litigation practice group in Merrillville, Indiana.  This position will work with other talented individuals who share a passion for doing great work in the best interest of our clients. The successful candidate will be self-motivated with a hands-on, positive, "can-do" approach with a high level of attention to detail.


Essential Job Duties: 

  • Manage administrative needs of multiple attorneys
  • Provide legal administrative support for litigation and transactional work
  • Provide litigation support through court filings, managing case files, preparing legal documents
  • Prepare highly confidential documents such as correspondence, memoranda communications to clients, contracts, agreements
  • Provide organizational assistance with meetings, billings, travel and maintaining calendars
  • Proactively ensure legal team is prepared with necessary materials for meetings and depositions
  • Provide marketing assistance by managing alerts, updates, creating PowerPoints and spreadsheets
  • Demonstrate good judgment and professionalism, and exhibit flexibility and versatility to provide support
  • Demonstrate strong reasoning and resolution skills
  • Perform special projects as required to increase the professional effectiveness and efficiency of the legal team


Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of three years of experience as a legal assistant with at least one year of litigation experience
  • Minimum of a high school diploma
  • Mastery of Microsoft Word – including creating and manipulating styles, using keyboard shortcuts, auto-numbering paragraphs, hyperlinking to other documents, creating tables of contents, tables of authorities, footnotes, and tables
  • Mastery of Microsoft Outlook, including managing multiple attorney calendars
  • Significant experience with Adobe Acrobat Professional – including the ability to rearrange pages, link to other PDF's and websites, manage passwords/security, insert pages, create signature stamps, add footers and headers, create bookmarks, and combine several PDFs into a single portfolio
  • Significant experience with Microsoft Excel – including knowing how to sum a column of numbers, hide and display columns and rows, do custom sorts and filters, and average a column of numbers
  • Significant experience with Microsoft PowerPoint – including inserting pictures and video, creating templates, rearranging slides
  • Knowledge of the Federal Court ECF system and experience filing pleadings
  • Knowledge of the Indiana and federal electronic court filing systems
  • Experience with a server-based document management system – iManage/File Site would be a plus

Legislative Coordinator

Krieg DeVault LLP is seeking a Legislative Coordinator to work with our Governmental Affairs practice group in Indianapolis, Indiana.  This position will work with other talented individuals who share a passion for doing great work in the best interest of our clients. The successful candidate will be self-motivated with a hands-on, positive, "can-do" approach with a high level of attention to detail. 

The Position: Coordinate communications and interactions with Governmental Affairs clients. Provide legislative and administrative support to attorneys and professionals in the Governmental Affairs practice group. Obtain and maintain a working knowledge of attorneys' and professionals' area of the Governmental Affairs practice and familiarity with legislative terminology and procedures.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work in coordination with the Practice Group Chair to manage legislative and political  activities;
  • Attend legislative and executive branch committee meetings and prepare executive summaries of such meetings to send to Practice Group members and clients;
  • Develop bill track lists for Practice Group clients and track key legislation during the legislative session;
  • Monitor the Indiana Register publication and state procurement announcements for items of interest to Practice Group members and clients;
  • Conduct legislative research and bill searches;
  • Provide communications support to Practice Group and association management clients. Coordinate legislative and political events on behalf of Practice Group clients and team members;
  • Coordinate schedules of the legislative team, including legislative and executive branch committees and regulatory hearing     schedules;
  • Maintain Governmental Affairs Practice Group client contact database and send client updates when instructed;
  • Coordinate Practice Group meetings and assist in agenda development;
  • Assist Political Committee Chair with fundraising activities, including management of the firm's political budget;
  • Assist in providing legislative and regulatory updates to the firm's attorneys;
  • Assist in the drafting and distribution of Practice Group newsletters;
  • Prepare and distribute client billings, engagement letters, correspondence and other documents as assigned;
  • File and retrieve documents, correspondence, billing statements and file folders as needed;
  • Answer and direct calls from clients and other governmental affairs stakeholders. Place calls to same when instructed.
  • Perform special projects or assignments as related to the Governmental Affairs practice.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education – Associate's or Bachelor's Degree
  • 1-3 years previous experience working with the Indiana General Assembly or the executive agencies of the State of Indiana preferred;
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations;
  • Experience performing basic content creation for corporate or non-profit social media platforms preferred;
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals;
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public;
  • Excellent customer-service attitude and strong work ethic;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
