On July 29, 2021, Governor Holcomb renewed the public health emergency (“PHE”) for another 30-day period, set to expire on August 30, 2021 unless otherwise withdrawn or further renewed.

The Indiana Department of Health (“IDOH”) has published a series of emergency orders waiving certain requirements for comprehensive care facilities (licensed nursing facilities) and residential care facilities (licensed assisted living facilities).  IDOH renewed all the orders for both comprehensive care facilities and residential care facilities on September 16, 2020, which shall continue in effect during the entirety of Indiana’s PHE.   While the orders cannot expire prior to the expiration of the PHE, it is possible they continue after the PHE ends.   The various orders for comprehensive care facilities and residential care facilities are available at the IDOH website

On July 1, 2021, IDOH also updated the long-term care facility COVID-19 Toolkit which contains helpful information for LTC staff.

Please contact Meghan M. Linvill McNab or Thomas N. Hutchinson for any questions regarding the PHE renewal or IDOH waivers.
