Michael Deam is a seasoned real estate, municipal, and business law attorney known for his transactional experience and practical legal insight. He advises clients on the negotiation and closing of complex real estate and business transactions, including acquisitions, and dispositions.

Michael represents buyers and sellers in high-value deals involving commercial shopping centers, apartment complexes, auto dealerships, and championship golf courses. His practice also includes counseling clients in the purchase and sale of service and manufacturing businesses. He has experience navigating environmental issues and regulatory considerations, and regularly advises a telecommunications tower company on land leases and subleases with national carriers.

From 2018 to 2024, Michael served on the Indiana Business Law Survey Commission, appointed by Governor Eric Holcomb. In this role, he contributed to statutory review and legislative recommendations presented to the Indiana General Assembly.

Representative Experience

  • Represented the seller in the negotiation and closing of the sale of commercial shopping centers to real estate investment trusts, in a multi-million dollar transaction
  • Represented the buyer in the negotiation and closing of the purchase of a championship golf course, including real estate, equipment and liquor license, in a multi-million dollar transaction.
  • Represented the seller in the negotiation and closing of the sale of a large apartment complex, in a multi-million dollar transaction.
  • Represented the seller of real estate utilized as an auto dealership, including handling environmental issues.
  • Represented a lender in connection with the secured financing of several apartment complexes in the amount of over one hundred million dollars.
  • Represented buyers and sellers in the negotiation and closing of the sale and purchase of service and manufacturing concerns.
  • Represented a telecommunication tower company in connection with its land leases and its subleases with cellular carriers.
