Michael Leppert's career includes 18 years of experience as a private sector lobbyist and 13 years as a state government leader, allowing him to bring a broad range of experience and capabilities to his clients. He left state government in 2002 as the executive director of the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission and has maintained an active consulting practice in the energy, water, sewer and telecommunications industries since. He is known for learning the broad functions and the details of his clients’ businesses and then developing communications strategies to effectively deliver on their behalf. Mr. Leppert has diverse experience, including administering education and youth treatment programs, managing the administration of state regulatory programs, managing dozens of employees in multiple divisions and advocating public policy positions before governmental bodies, elected officials and citizens groups.

Prior to joining Krieg DeVault, Mr. Leppert served as the Director of Public Affairs at Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP where he focused on direct lobbying, federal grass-tops organizing, issue management and economic development. He is a regular editorial contributor to The Statehouse File, Indianapolis Business Journal and his columns are reprinted in news outlets throughout Indiana. He published his first book, Contrary to Popular Belief, in July of 2016.
