Katherine Mayberry is a member of the firm's Business, Acquisitions and Securities Practice Group.  She provides general corporate and business law advice, with a focus on agribusiness and the life sciences.  Kathy has nearly 20 years of diverse legal experience involving mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property licensing, the negotiation and drafting of commercial agreements, regulatory compliance and corporate governance.

Prior to joining Krieg DeVault, Kathy served as Vice President and General Counsel at AgReliant Genetics, LLC, the third largest corn seed company in North America. In that role, she advised the company on a broad range of legal matters while balancing the practical needs of the business. Kathy was also an in-house attorney at Anthem, Inc., focused on creating innovative collaborations in the provision of healthcare, mergers and acquisitions and antitrust compliance. Before joining Anthem, Inc., Kathy was an associate attorney for various law firms, with a general corporate and structured finance practice.

Over her career, Ms. Mayberry has been active in numerous community organizations, including the Indiana FFA Foundation (past-Treasurer), Hamilton County Airport Authority (past-President), Fox Hill Community Garden (Co-Founder), Indiana Leadership Forum (past-Secretary) and the Indiana Juvenile Justice Taskforce (past-Treasurer).  She is currently serving on the Joint Ag Law Steering Committee for the joint degree program of Purdue University and the IU McKinney School of Law.

  • Negotiated intellectual property licensing agreements with large multinational agricultural corporations
  • Assisted with creation and negotiation of multiple commercial contracts relating to the research, production and sale of agricultural products
  • Represented client in the establishment and maintenance of a precision agriculture platform
  • Represented client in multiple real and personal property leasing transactions
  • Represented client seeking tax incentives in multiple states and jurisdictions

  • Negotiated a joint venture to offer a nationwide private exchange for employers to use in managing their health benefit offerings
  • Negotiated and supported a joint venture to offer health insurance third party administrative services in China
  • Advised small family businesses in connection with transition planning
  • Assisted in the drafting of various securities filings
  • Advised clients with respect to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and other anti-corruption regulatory environments
