Lian S. Gravelle Joins Krieg DeVault's ESOP and Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation Practice Groups

Krieg DeVault is proud to announce that attorney Lian S. Gravelle has joined as Of Counsel in the firm's ESOP and Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation practice groups. Gravelle, who brings 10 years of experience to the firm, will focus her practice on the structuring and implementation of complex ESOP transactions, and will also counsel clients on general employee benefits and executive compensation matters.  Her legal experience and geographic practice reach are a natural match in strengthening the firm’s already nationally recognized ESOP team.

Gravelle’s ESOP experience includes transaction structuring, representing companies, shareholders and trustees in ESOP transactions, sale of ESOP companies or acquisitions by ESOP-owned companies, implementing and designing executive compensation plans, and ESOP compliance matters such as plan design, amendments, IRS corrections, DOL audits, plan terminations and advising plan sponsors about their fiduciary duties and complying with regulatory changes.  On the trustee side, her experience involves initial and second stage ESOP transactions,  phantom stock and synthetic equity plans, due diligence reviews and  review of annual valuations of company stock.

Ms. Gravelle’s past career experiences include working as an ESOP Relationship Manager for Horizon Trust & Investment Management.  In that capacity, she worked directly with clients for whom Horizon Trust was a discretionary trustee and also worked on ESOP purchases and sales.  Additionally, she has served as a Client Consulting Administrator for OneAmerica, a major employee benefits consulting firm, and as an ESOP attorney for a New York-based law firm.

Ms. Gravelle is a member of the National Center for Employee Ownership, The ESOP Association, in which she serves as a member of the highly regarded Legal & Regulatory Advisory Committee.  She also serves as the Co-Chair of the Monroe County (NY) Bar Association’s Tax Section, as Vice President of the New York/New Jersey Chapter of The ESOP Association, and is a  member of the Greater Rochester Association for Women Attorneys.

Ms. Gravelle is admitted to practice in Indiana and New York.
