Mary Chrun

Paralegal

Mary Chrun is a member of Krieg DeVault's Employee Stock Ownership Plan (“ESOP”) practice group. In addition to ESOPs, she has worked with other qualified retirement plan matters. She assists attorneys by preparing first drafts of plan documents, summary plan descriptions, election and distributions forms, Internal Revenue Service applications and correction programs, Department of Labor correction programs and various other tax returns. She assists clients with administrative questions regarding their qualified retirement plans. She organizes the documents required for IRS and DOL audits.

In addition, Ms. Chrun has been a member of Estate/Probate practice groups for over 30 years. As a probate paralegal, she meets with clients, and assists the attorney with the preparation of probate applications, estate/inheritance tax returns, estate/trust income tax returns, accountings, and transfer/distribution documents.

Representative Experience

  • Assist attorneys with drafting employee stock ownership plans and trusts; amendments, summary plan descriptions, plan administrative documents and board actions by plan sponsors and trustees.
  • Assist in the preparation and organization of documents required by the IRS or DOL in regard to the audit of retirement plans.
  • Assist attorneys with the preparation and filing of IRS and DOL correction applications.
  • Assist attorneys with answering client questions regarding their retirement plans.
  • Assist attorney with the preparation of IRS applications for determination letters for on-going plans and terminating plans.
  • Gather information from Third Party Administrators regarding the administration of plans and data required to perform non-discrimination testing.
  • Meet with family members in regard to gathering information regarding decedent and decedents’ assets and liabilities.
  • Assist attorney in preparation of probate petition and notification of heirs.
  • Preparation of inventory and accounting of probate assets and non-probate assets.
  • Preparation of federal estate tax returns and state estate/inheritance tax returns.
  • Prepare various petitions regarding closing of estate including preparation of documents required to transfer assets to appropriate heirs.
