Lori Jean



Lori Jean is a member of the firm’s Financial Institutions Practice Group. She devotes her practice to counseling clients regarding corporate, transactional, and financial services law and compliance matters in the financial institutions industry.

Ms. Jean has an extensive background spanning more than 26 years in the corporate and legal industries. Prior to joining Krieg DeVault, she served as Senior Vice President, Assistant General Counsel, and Chief Compliance Officer for 1st Source Bank. While there, Ms. Jean provided support in commercial and consumer lending, specialty finance, workout/collections, deposit operations, insurance agency, and trust and investment matters. She was also responsible for drafting, implementing, and overseeing corporate regulatory compliance policies, programs, and risk assessments in her role as Chief Compliance Officer. Previous to 1st Source Bank, Ms. Jean served as Assistant General Counsel for Coachmen Industries, Inc., Senior Managing Counsel for Tellabs Operations, Inc., and Partner at the law firm of Baker & McKenzie.

Representative Experience

  • Counseled financial institutions in operational and regulatory compliance matters
  • Represented financial institutions in commercial and industrial, and real estate lending transactions
  • Managed collection litigation against local municipality resulting in full recovery of outstanding debt
  • Negotiated and closed a multi-party real estate sale/municipal finance transaction with the City of South Bend and renegotiated a 10-year lease of corporate headquarters at savings of over $1 million
  • Represented clients in the sale, acquisition and financing of student housing developments
  • Represented a financial institution in the sale of its insurance agency
  • Managed prosecution of non-solicitation and trade secrets suit against competitor and former employee resulting in permanent injunction and award of damages and attorney’s fees
  • Handled private placement of securities in connection with TARP transaction
