Lavonda R. Romine

Lavonda Romine is a paralegal in the Estate Planning and Personal Services Practice Group and the Tax Practice Group, focusing primarily on the administration of estates, trusts and guardianships, and related federal and state tax issues. Much of her work in estate administration involves the preparation and filing of federal estate and Indiana inheritance tax returns and analysis of available tax elections and tax-saving opportunities. Ms. Romine also works closely with clients and attorneys in all phases of estate planning, including initial drafting of documents and analysis of client portfolios in connection with lifetime gift strategies and postmortem wealth transfer for the firm’s Indiana clients, as well as providing assistance to the firm’s attorneys licensed to practice in Florida with the needs of their clients who are Florida residents.

Ms. Romine has worked in the areas of estate and tax administration for over 30 years. Prior to joining Krieg DeVault in 1998, she was a Vice President and Trust Officer in the Trust Department at Bank One, now JPMorgan Chase Bank, for many years. While at Bank One, she acted as the bank’s statewide liaison with affiliate banks for federal estate and Indiana inheritance tax matters.

• Responsible for initial drafting all pleadings in estate and guardianship administration matters, as well as preparation of accountings for estates, trusts and guardianships.
• Responsible for preparation and filing of federal estate tax returns and Indiana inheritance tax returns and analysis of available tax elections.
• Assists clients and beneficiaries in transferring title to personal and real property.
• Prepares initial drafts of Wills, Trusts, Living Wills and Powers of Attorney.
• Prepares flowcharts and graphs to illustrate client estate plans.
