Lauren Sorrell is a member of the firm’s Litigation, and Creditors’ Rights & Bankruptcy Practice Groups.  Prior to joining Krieg DeVault, Ms. Sorrell served as a Judicial Intern in Indiana state and federal court. Both of these opportunities helped to assist clients in that they provided experience with the litigation process and the judicial perspective. She also gained significant experience while working as a Summer Associate with Krieg DeVault in 2011. Prior to beginning her legal career, Ms. Sorrell worked in business settings in various industries in Indianapolis and Chicago with a focus on corporate marketing.

Representative Experience

  • Drafting and preparing briefs, motions, and memoranda in state and federal court
  • Preparing appellate materials for the Indiana Court of Appeals, Indiana Supreme Court, and Supreme Court of the United States
  • Coordinating complex electronic discovery in state and federal court litigation
  • Performing extensive legal research and analysis in a multitude of subject areas within civil litigation matters
  • Participating in witness preparation, interviews, and depositions
  • Drafting, responding to, managing, and reviewing written discovery
  • Assisting with preparation for Rule 2004 examinations and completing extensive research and analysis of debtors’ and creditors’ rights as they relate to discharge under the Bankruptcy Code
  • Defense counsel in connection with federal and state fraud issues including the False Claims Act, Stark Law, and qui tam litigation
  • Defense counsel in numerous matters involving breach of contract, negligence, product liability, business torts, class actions, and medical malpractice
  • Counsel to creditors in collection, foreclosure and bankruptcy matters
  • Local counsel in multiple matters in state and federal courts for out-of-state clients and counsel
