Dean E. McConnell
Dean McConnell is a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property and Technology Law and Litigation Practice Groups, concentrating his practice on all aspects of intellectual property. He has extensive global experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications in a wide variety of electronic and electromechanical arts, infringement and validity studies, licensing, patent infringement litigation, trademark and unfair competition litigation, trademark and copyright practice.
Mr. McConnell’s representative arts include semiconductors, wireless communication devices and communication methods, Internet business method patents, computer hardware/software and a wide range of digital and analog electronic circuits for various devices. In addition, Mr. McConnell has experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the mechanical arts.
Representative Experience
- Obtained a preliminary injunction against a leading energy shot manufacturer for false advertising and defended against allegations of trademark infringement. Innovation Ventures, LLC d/b/a Living Essentials v. Body Dynamics, Inc. d/b/a BDI Marketing, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, 2008
- Successfully defended and settled patent infringement claims alleged in a proceeding filed with the International Trade Commission. 3M Company et al. v. Technuity, Inc. et al
- Successfully obtained a preliminary injunction against a manufacturer of infringing icicle lights and obtained a contempt order for violation of the preliminary injunction. Tisket-A-Tasket Group Inc. v. H.S. Craft Manufacturing Co., U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, 1999
