Amy M. Levander

Prior to joining Krieg DeVault’s Governmental Affairs team, Amy Levander served as Governor Kernan’s Deputy Legislative Director from September 2003 to June 2004.  In that role, she negotiated legislation on behalf of the Governor with House and Senate leadership, approved all agency legislation and made recommendations to the Governor.  Prior to this role, she served two years on Governor O’Bannon’s legislative staff and three and a half years on the Indiana House of Representatives Democrat Staff. 

Ms. Levander has over eleven years of government experience serving both the executive and legislative branches.

Representative Experience

• Successfully lobbied for a change in the Mental Health Parity Statute for CHIP eligibles requiring the state to cover services excluded by Administrative Code
• Advocated on behalf of certain elected officials for significant changes in their state pension plan
• Negotiated legislation enacting an electronic waste recycling program, which requires manufacturers of certain products to recycle a percentage of their sales by weight
• Promoted legislation requiring insurance companies that contract with the state Medicaid program to achieve NCQA accreditation as a matter of eligibility to do business with the program
• Supported legislation requiring the Department of Education to collect and report vision screening testing data conducted by the schools to the Legislature on an annual basis
