Summer Associate RecruitingUnderstanding the Recruiting Process Krieg DeVault has a simple recruiting mission: seek, find, and select the best possible prospective lawyers from among the highest quality law school students. We want people who will excel in a friendly, supportive, and diverse working environment where attorneys receive significant training and have all the necessary resources for professional growth. Who We Recruit We recruit from primarily the top one-third of first- and second-year law school classes, as well as from judicial clerkships. Each student is evaluated one-on-one, and among the criteria we consider are strong academic achievement and outstanding verbal and written communication skills. We also emphasize prior work experience, undergraduate performance, interests outside of law school, and each person’s unique talents and abilities. While membership on a law review or participation in moot court is desirable, they are not prerequisites to selection. When We Recruit Our recruiting process takes place during the traditional fall on-campus recruiting season, beginning in August each year. We also accept resumes for summer associate positions from students attending law schools where we do not interview on campus. Students are encouraged to send a cover letter, resume, and transcript to our Recruiting Coordinator, Amy Urbanski. Where We Recruit We participate in three minority recruiting programs: Gateway to Diversity (Indiana law schools), IBA Diversity Job Fair, and the Cook County Bar Association Minority Law Student Job Fair. Law schools where we recruit include:
