Krieg DeVault is pleased to announce that Lori Jean, former Senior Vice President, Assistant General Counsel, and Chief Compliance Officer of 1st Source Bank (“1st Source”), has joined the firm as a Partner.  Jean will be a member of Krieg DeVault’s well-established Financial Institutions Practice Group, a cornerstone of the firm for decades.  Jean, who spent nearly seven years guiding 1st Source’s general corporate and bank regulatory compliance divisions, will now counsel law firm clients regarding corporate, transactional, and compliance matters with a focus on the financial institutions industry.  She will play an integral role in the future growth of the firm’s financial services initiatives in Indiana, Illinois, and nationally.

Jean’s tenure in the corporate and legal industries spans more than 26 years.  While at 1st Source, she was responsible for providing corporate and transactional support to executive management, as well as to numerous departments including Commercial and Consumer Lending, Specialty Finance, Workout/Collections, Deposit Operations, Insurance Agency, and Trust and Investment.   In her role as Chief Compliance Officer, Jean was responsible for overseeing corporate regulatory compliance which included identifying, assessing, and monitoring the myriad laws and regulations, regulatory environment, and risk indicators for business units across the bank.  Among Jean’s many accomplishments at 1st Source was her management of the collection litigation against a local municipality resulting in full recovery of $775,000 of outstanding debt, and the negotiation of a multi-party $6.5 million real estate sale and municipal finance transaction with the City of South Bend.   Prior to working at 1st Source, Jean served as Assistant General Counsel for Coachmen Industries, Inc. in Elkhart, Indiana; Senior Managing Counsel for Tellabs Operations, Inc. in Naperville, Illinois; and Partner at the law firm of Baker & McKenzie in Chicago, Illinois.

Jean is a graduate of Villanova University School of Law and is admitted to practice in Indiana and Illinois.  She is a member of the Indiana and American Bar Associations, Association of Corporate Counsel and the Michiana Corporate Counsel.  She will counsel clients from the firm’s North Central Indiana and Chicago offices.
