• Passage of a law that ensured fair treatment of safety net hospitals in the State’s Medicaid managed care system;
• Passage of laws creating mid-level treatment facilities for mentally ill persons;
• Elimination of the inventory tax for foreign metal exchange markets and obtaining the State’s forgiveness of a $10million loan at Burns Harbor International Port;
• Repeal of the Hazardous Waste Facility Site Approval Authority;
• Origination of, and improvement on, legislation providing significant Medicaid funding for hospitals that provide indigent care (Medicaid “disproportionate share” legislation);
• Passage of laws correcting inequities in the manner in which medical stop loss insurers were assessed as participants in the state’s high risk insurance program;
• Obtaining 1 of 5 riverboat gaming licenses on the Ohio River;
• Stopping an effort to ban the building of electric generating plants;
• Stopping a ban on electric utilities diversification.
