Four Krieg DeVault Attorneys Receive Certification in Estate Planning and Administration

Indianapolis, Indiana – The law firm of Krieg DeVault LLP is pleased to announce that four of the firm’s partners have received certification in Estate Planning and Administration by the Estate Planning and Administration Specialty Certification Board of the Indiana State Bar Association.  Thomas P. Ewbank, Marc A. Hetzner, Eric A. Manterfield and Rodney R. Retzner were recently honored at a ceremony for the new Indiana recipients of this certification status.     

Thomas P. Ewbank is a graduate of Indiana University and its School of Law.  He is a member of Krieg DeVault’s Estate Planning and Administration Practice Group.  Mr. Ewbank advises personal representatives of decedent’s estates and prepares or supervises the preparation of federal estate and gift tax returns.  He also conducts or participates in field audits, conference and appeals level negotiations in cases involving federal estate and gift taxes.  Mr. Ewbank is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and a Past President of the Estate Planning Council of Indianapolis. 

Marc A. Hetzner is a graduate of Indiana University and its School of Law - Indianapolis, and the Indiana University Graduate School of Business (M.B.A. Taxation).  He is a member of Krieg DeVault’s Business, Litigation, Nonprofit, Real Estate and Environmental, and Estate Planning and Administration Practice Groups.  He also chairs the firm’s Taxation Practice Group.  Mr. Hetzner’s practice primarily includes taxation and estate planning and administration.  Mr. Hetzner is experienced in the planning of large estates and in the design and implementation of revocable and irrevocable trusts.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.

Eric A. Manterfield is a graduate of Denison University and University of Michigan Law School.  He is chairman of the firm’s Estate Planning and Administration Practice Group and is also a member of the firm’s Business and Tax Practice Groups.  Mr. Manterfield concentrates his practice on estate planning, family business succession planning and probate litigation.  Mr. Manterfield is a former President of the Estate Planning Council of Indianapolis and served as the Adjunct Professor of Estate Planning at the Indiana University School of Law in Bloomington for thirty years.  He is the author of Critical Elements of Estate Planning with Forms and is a regular columnist for the Indianapolis Business Journal and Hoosier Banker.  Mr. Manterfield is also a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.

Rodney S. Retzner is a graduate of the Rose Hulman Institute of Technology and the University of Cincinnati College of Law.  From 1990 until 1995, Mr. Retzner was an officer in the United States Navy, including 3 1/2 years on board the nuclear submarine USS Alabama (SSBN-731).  He joined Krieg DeVault in 1998 and is currently a member of its Business, Real Estate and Environmental, Taxation, and Estate Planning and Administration Practice Groups.  Mr. Retzner’s practice is concentrated in the areas of estate and business succession planning, probate administration and not-for-profit entities.
