The Recruiting Process

Best Places to Work Logo 2008Our summer associate program is the primary vehicle through which we hire our first-year associate attorneys. We recruit from primarily the top one-third of law school classes, as well as from judicial clerks. Although each student is considered on an individual basis, we emphasize strong academic achievement in law school and outstanding verbal and written communication skills. We also evaluate each individual in light of his or her undergraduate performance, interests outside of law school, prior work experience, nexus to Indiana and a variety of other talents, abilities and factors. While membership on a law review or participation in moot court is desirable, they are not prerequisites to being hired.

We recruit primarily second-year law students for our summer program. Our recruiting process takes place during the traditional fall on-campus recruiting season, which begins in August each year. We also accept resumes for summer associate positions from students attending law schools where we do not interview on campus. All interested candidates from law schools at which we do not conduct on-campus interviews should send a cover letter, their resume and a transcript to our Recruiting Coordinator.

We participate in two minority recruiting programs: Gateway to Diversity (Indiana law schools) and the Cook County Bar Association Minority Law Student Job Fair (Chicago).

After on-campus interviews, students are invited to our office for additional interviews. Students attending law schools where we do not interview on-campus who send us their resumes and whom we consider qualified candidates for our summer associate program may also be invited to our office to interview.
